AOF

The Air Ops Flying (AOF) section supports, organises and coordinates Air Ops related activities within the 7 nation EAG.  The AOF area is staffed by aircrew from a variety of European nations military fast jet and transport aircraft.  The AOF area engages in a variety of roles, projects and provides specialist advice and support across the wide range of activity within the EAG.

Current AOF activities include:

  • Advanced Training Master Plan (ATMP): Near and long term exercise coordination;
  • Garlic Lemon: A Technical Arrangement (TA) for operational units to access the Low Flying Systems (LFS) of each other’s country;
  • Eurofight: A TA providing an agreed multilateral framework for Air Defence Training amongst participating nations;
  • AACMI:  Development, standardisation and integration of Autonomous Air-Combat Manoeuvring Instrumentation (AACMI) pods;
  • CAS: Exercise coordination and unit integration. Support to Land Organizations on Air Land Integration issues;
  • VOLCANEX: provides manpower for definition, planning, execution and evaluation phases of EAG exercises, as required;
  • Other Ongoing Activities: Air Ops research, seminars, augmentees on NATO exercises, EUROCONTROL liaison.
