Alternate Airfield Project
Following on from national requests, the Air Ops Flying (AOF) section is in the process of developing a Technical Arrangement (TA) covering the use, booking and scheduling of Alternate Airfields (AAs).
A reduction in the availability of AAs due to airfield closures has highlighted a potential problem regarding the support of flying ops, particularly with cross border arrangements.
The TA will aim to formalise current procedures and provide an agreed arrangement for the multinational use and provision of airfields on a flexible exchange basis. Ratification of the document took place at the EAG Steering Group in July 2011.
