ATMP
The Advanced Training and exercises Master Plan (ATMP) contributes to the co-ordination of training and exercise opportunities amongst the EAG nations. The EAG acts as a “facilitator” in this process, which allows the 7 EAG Air Forces to exchange information within this forum.
ATMP Project Point of Contact List (dated 28 June 2011)
The aim of the project is to develop and maintain updated common annual exercise files/charts with a separate spreadsheet for each of the seven EAG nations, containing its national exercise activities. This allows EAG nations to review all national exercises and activities and any that are open as INVITEX to all the other EAG nations for that particular year. This means that all EAG exercises and training opportunities, as well as any associated exercise management and budget issues, are frequently updated for the national exercise planners. The ATMP meeting is held every 6 months with a mid-term exercise calendar update every 3 months. Some of the objectives of this project are:
- To promote opportunities to improve the training and operational capabilities of the participating air forces to carry out combined activities, exercises and operations;
- To provide mutual visibility of national exercise and training programs and to investigate the possible interaction of activities.
Another phase of the ongoing project is the EAG seeking to optimise the information provided by the ATMP participants by promoting an agreement between EAG nations to improve the quality of multinational training at the lowest possible cost. De-conflicting exercise dates, joining forces or sharing previous exercise experiences is one of the steps in this process. Other ways to better achieve the desired aim are constantly under discussion at the regular ATMP co-ordination board meetings.
The next ATMP meeting is planned for Jan 2012.
