ATMP

The Advanced Training and exercises Master Plan (ATMP) contributes to the co-ordination of training and exercise opportunities amongst the EAG nations. The EAG acts as a “facilitator” in this process, which allows the 7 EAG Air Forces to exchange information within this forum.

The aim of the project is to develop and maintain an updated common annual file/chart with a separate spreadsheet for each of the seven EAG nations, containing its national activities, and a common one called EAG chart. This common EAG chart combines all national exercises and activities open as INVITEX to all the other EAG nations for that particular year. This means that all EAG exercises and training opportunities, as well as associated management procedures, are easily presented to and frequently updated for the national exercise planners. Some of the objectives of this project are:

  • To promote opportunities to improve the training and operational capabilities of the participating air forces to carry out combined activities, exercises and operations;
  • To provide mutual visibility of national exercise and training programs and to investigate the possible interaction of activities to produce the annual ATMP charts using national contributions.

For the second advanced phase of the project, the EAG is striving to find a method of optimising the information provided by the ATMP charts, promoting an agreement between EAG nations to improve the quality of multinational training at the lowest possible cost. De-conflicting dates is the first step in this direction, which to a certain extent, is already happening. Other ways to better achieve the desired aim are currently under discussion at the regular ATMP co-ordination board meetings.
