CATO
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
A set of CATO SOPs, including standard documents and job descriptions, was edited by the EAG
staff with the contribution of national subject matter experts (SMEs). The SOPs were tested and validated during exercises and operations, and proved to be consistent with current operational requirements.
On 4 July 07, a CATO TA was signed by the 7 EAG nations’ Chiefs of Air Staff to formalize their commitment to this concept. The TA
provides the technical, legal and financial framework to activate a CATO during real operations under different circumstances (NATO, EU or coalition). The CATO TA is a suitable solution to the present shortfall of offers from nations of an “Air Terminal” capability for the three DOBs in the NATO NRF CJSOR, and in general to support any NATO, EU or UN operation.
