DGAIR

Dangerous Goods by Air regulations

The aim of this project is the harmonisation of existing procedures for the transport of dangerous goods amongst the EAG Nations.
The outcome of the study is a document known as the European Carrier Variations Catalogue (ECVC) for non-ICAO/IATA compliant Dangerous Goods (DG). The consequent TA, (the signature process is still in progress), will provide a multi-national framework to facilitate the transport of DG items forbidden by ICAO/IATA Regulations, of any (Requesting) Nation on board another (Providing) Nation’s AT aircraft, in order to improve operational capabilities and interoperability for multinational deployed operations.
The ECVC applies to an identified list of DG items most commonly transported by national MODs. It includes an agreed set of procedures promulgated for the direction and guidance of all personnel concerned with the preparation and movement of DG in AT aircraft, and mandatory controls for the safe carriage of hazardous consignments in all such aircraft. The longer term aspiration being the broadening of the ECVC both in its inclusion of more DG items as well as increasing the number of nations signing the TA.

AASTP-2

The EAG has been recognized by the CNAD AC 326/Sub Group 4 as further advanced in its work to deliver a solution for the conveyance of DG by Air. NATO is in the process of writing the Air Chapter to the Allied Ammunition Storage and Transportation Procedure – 2 (AASTP-2) and members of the CNAD accepted that much of the work for this had already been carried out by the EAG in the form of its ECVC.  It was therefore decided to ask the EAG to contribute its expertise in this area to the development of the Air Chapter of AASTP-2.
