Fuel

The timely supply of fuel, and hence all petrol, oil and lubricants (POL) operations, is fundamental to the success of all operations and exercises.
The ability of EAG nations to provide fuel in support of deployed operations varies according to national assets, operator skills and training, and the area of deployment. At present, the EAG air forces have no coordinated system of fuel operations, yet a variety of skills and capabilities exists across all nations. By agreeing standard operating procedures, through combining different national systems, procedures and training, EAG nations can benefit from enhanced POL interoperability.Fuel 2
Some efforts had been unsuccessfully made in the past, but the project had become dormant as other issues rose to the fore. The EAG, together with other interested Nations, is again trying to regain the momentum and revitalise the project.

Following the results achieved during VOLCANEX 09, the EAG proposed the way ahead to improve interoperability in the Fuel area, such as drafting a common EAG SOPs and/or a TA for Fuel activities. The EAG has agreed with the EAG nations to conduct a specific activity on FARP and Hot Refuelling integrated in the Combined Joint Personnel Recovery Course (CJPRSC), which will be conducted in Germany later  in September 2010. This course will provide an excellent opportunity for Fuel trials with the participation of around 15 RW assets over 6 flying days and three Nations (GBR, ITA and NLD) with the support of the HN Germany have committed, so far, personnel and assets.
