Italian Aircraft Conducted DACT (Dissimilar Air Combat Training) with Spanish Air Force

Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft have recently deployed almost 1800 nautical miles to Gando Air Base in Gran Canaria, to carry out air combat training with F/A 18 Hornets of the Spanish Air Force, within the framework of the European Air Group.  This training exercise, from 18 to 21 October, is the first time that Italian Eurofighter Typhoons have deployed so far from base, without accompanying technical support.  The aircraft involved are operated by No 18 Gruppo, 37 Stormo and normally based at Trapani Airbase.  In order to complete the 1800 mile journey, the aircraft were air-to-air refuelled by a KC-767A Tanker aircraft from No 14 Stormo, based at Pratica di Mare.
